Counterfeit Kit _ February 2022 Reveal

For February 2022 I have been asked to be a guest designer and participant in the Counterfeit Kit Challenge. This month's kit is Denim and Blush Modern Memory Keeping Kit from Cocoa Daisy from February 2021" Here is the link for the original kit: https://www.cocoadaisy.com/product/denim-blush-modern-memory-keeping-kit-february-2021/
This kit is all about small planner or traveler notebooks projects.  Since it focuses on smaller scrapbooking I thought it would be fun to show hoe to use traveler notebook supplies on larger size scrapbooking.  These projects can be done with scraps, smaller paper packs or even traveler notebook papers.  There is no reason not to use smaller papers on larger layouts.

The papers that really talked to me in this kit were the yellow gingham (mine isn't as dark. Blue & white stripe and the hearts.  I have lots of gingham papers in various colors.  My ginghams  are yellow, pink, denim, lilac, deep green & baby blue.  Many of these make an appearance in my kit.  To replicate the blue a white stripe I am using a piece from a 6x6ad of paper that is lines of script but the colors are perfect.  The pink hearts in rows will become lines of circles in different shapes.  The pinks are very similar.  The red paper is busier then I like but a cut file and patterned floral paper will make a great accent for one page.

For embellishments I will use Journals for Life stickers, pages as banners & accents, mock flair and decorated paper clips to match theme of my layout.  Other things I picked for my kit goes with the picture and my style.  Many of my pages will include stamping, heat embossing and mini picture books.  Here is my kit:

I think in pages so each division of product is a page.  I hope you will play along this month to see what the team comes up with and share your own creations.  Here are the links to the team:

Counterfeit Kit January 2022 part 2

Here is a reminder of Januarys Kit:

In this second half of the kit I kept to soft colors.  I was inspired by the ephemera and did a lot of nature themes.  This set is the same family colors but are a little darker.this first page has soft brown, orange, yellow and light green.  The lilt has been stamped & heat embossed

This last page is a bit on the darker side.  It was inspired more by the nature ephemera.  The base colors are green& tan.  The tan paper has a light green sparkle but doesn't show in pictures. The side flaps are held on with scrap paper hinges which allow pages to expand easily.

Counterfeit Kit December 2021 part 2

This project is not complete but I have gotten a good start on it.  The project is about half done.  This  project consists of 4 sets of hinged pages.  To crate hinged pages I use jewelry box hinges and brads to attach.  Jewelry box hinges come in variety of shapes and sizes, are light weight and don't add bulk.  In this particular kit I am using multiple colored brads with antique copper butterfly hinges.  The hinges allow the pages to fold out and lay flat.  For this project I am not tying them shut finding the hinges hold the pages in place in the album.  I have tied them t in the past for an added extra enhancement.

For this project I designed a Title page.one other page has a sub title to differentiate from the main Pow-wow.  The rest of the pages don't have titles and journaling is hidden.  The Feathers on the main title page are real crow feathers I picked up on a morning stroll.  For the rainbow feathers I used the feather stencil to get my base feathers.  Using the feather paper as an example, I brushed the ink pads gently across the feathers to give the same swatched coloring look.  Then detailed cut out the feathers and used as ephemera.

.These books are four pages of 8 1/2 x 11.  This is the size I prefer to scrap.  The nice thing about the books allow mw to scrap all the pictures while not boring those who look through my album.  If they want to see all the pictures they can but they can all flip through sections that are irrelevant to them.  Here is how the book works:

Each book contains 8 pages to be used for layouts.  Each layout needs to be complete before adding brads.  I do add the brads through the sheet protector holding everything in place.  Here are some examples the second book with the sub titles.  I stuck with feathers but them different to show the second group that was part of the main Pow-wow.  My goal was to capture the feel & spirit of the Pow-wow.

Counterfeit Kit January 2022 - Kit 1

My December Kit is underway.  This was meant to be a multi-month project and is about half done  There will be pictures posted with a follow-up when complete  I planned it just in case I didn't like January's kit.

When I saw January's kit I had 2 impressions instantly.  The first photo said spring with the florals.  The second picture was perfect color for fall  Continuing with my 2018 Light project I prepared 2 kits.

The colors for both kits is peachy Orange light Pine Green  Yellow-Orange & Tan  My first kit will focus on the Fall look.  This will be November - Nature  My themes for the month were Snow, Sunrise, Thanksgiving Decor & Mountains.

This kit includes some cut files, scraps, Journal for life papers, stickers, sequins, die cuts and paper for for 5 pages.  The sticker alphabet is a multi cored circle floral that will be used on all the pages. The intro page incorporates all the other colors tying it all together into a coordinated monthly opening.  All the colors are on this page.  The sun cut file is backed with 2 different papers that pull in all the colors/  The sun has been colored with  Nuvo Glitter Lemon Yellow Marker.  I used the same glitter paper for the sky on the Mountain cut file and enhanced the mountains with Nuvo Raspberry Tart Glitter Marker.

I was tempted to use the cut file again for the sunrise but found this yellow paper that fit the color scheme as well as the concept of the sun rising.  I backed the yellow with a Peach polka Dot paper.  Added some old button puffy stickers and some clouds.  I love watching the sun rise.

I spent Thanksgiving with friends.  I got together with a crafty friend for a weekend of crafting.  Things didn't go as planned.  I crafted she spent time with family.  This little pumpkin basket was something she had newly created with her brand new embroidery machine.  I turned the pumpkin frame into a shaker pocket using a variety of orange & browns sequins. Used some scraps to tie the colors in the kit across the pages & unite the the pages.  I chose to cut one of the pictures into a pumpkin shape to bring the pumpkin across the page.

The mountain background paper was the darkest of all the papers.  I brightened up with scraps from the other pages.  This was another sunrise  over the mountains.  I loved how the sun rising changed how the Mountains appeared.  Blue gray of pre sunrise to the golden yellow & peaches of the sun rise.  Originally I was just going to take a picture of the Mountains and talk about visiting an area I had once lived but instead I got a series about how light changes perspective,

Soon I hope to have the second half of the kit posted.  It has a slightly different feel but with the same colors.
