Counterfeit Kit February - Conclusion

Thank you Misty for inviting me to play along this month with Counterfeit Kit Team.  I have enjoyed it immensely. The end of the month is just around the corner and my kit down to scraps.  Some scraps have been slated for layouts when pictures arrive; won't be this month when they arrive.  Here are my concluding layouts from this kit:

I watch the birds feed often in the weeds in the cracks of the store parking lot. This was a fun one to do.  The background is navy gingham.  The embellishments are stamped canning jars on different papers that can stand for seeds or bird food. In one jar I placed slices of bread for interest.

This is 2 page spread of older pictures. The pumpkins in the center have stenciled straw across the bottom and book embellishments down the sides.  The pumpkins open to show the lower image and create a unique spread.

A combination of stencils & stickers create the bird clusters.  The top 2 pictures are trees full of birds as sun comes up.  They sang a beautiful song to the sun

The background paper was one I wasn't really fond of.  I wasn't sure if it would ever get used but it reminded me of my cats coloring & stripes.  The orangey-peach brightened up.  The white cat banner was a 6x6 sheet and had the orangey-peach color.

The background paperI pulled because it was a gingham.  Originally I thought I would scrap something about my Father's paisley shaped flower bed.  The colors complimented the photo and the Heavenly blue gingham calmed down making it a good page for a layout about how I take time away from the busy world.

The flowers is embossing pate through a stencil then silver embossing powder added to help it look like a dandelion gone to seed.  The floral paper was scrap just laying on my desk but it brightens the layou.  The banner down the left side is covered with dandelions.

A peach, blue & yellow stripe adds cheerfulness to this layout.  I I used a peachy paper from a 6x6 paper pad to mat the photo.  I used a label with a yellow stripe on the tag to bring out the yellow a little bit
.  The sleeping bag is stamped andI added wild cat stickers of cozy cats.

See you in March with a brand new kit!

Counterfeit Kit February 2022 - layouts

This month has been crazy.  I haven't been able to post as frequently as I would have liked.  Here are some layouts created to date:

Challenge #2 - Geometric Shapes - Hearts & Circles

3 page layout - Sunrise to Sunset over first snowfall of the year.

A mixed media layout - Embossing paste died with Dark Chocolate reined placed through a stencil to creat moth.  Once it dried an alcohol marker used to create markings.  An coloring book moth colored with colored pencils added to add interest and layers.  The background was a glossy scrapbook paper.  The banner was a scrap.

The base kit was Navy & Blush.  Here is a darker layout still based on the original kit - Navy & red.  Coloring book florals & stamped images add interest & layers..

Counterfeit Kit February 2022 - small projects

The Denim & Blush kit is made for planners or travelers notebooks. How many of us have smaller size papers in our stash?  Sometimes we get so caught up with the fact that certain papers can only be used for certain projects only.  Using Journal for Life papers I made mini hinged books to apply to larger pages.  This uses stash and gives some pages an interactive playfulness.

I use jewelry box hinges to create my books.  I have them as small as 1/2 inch up to 1inch.  They are light weight and don't add very much bulk  I attach the hinges with brads.  The jewelry box hinges come in a variety of shapes & colors and the butterfly hinges hold things closed nicely but also allow things to open and lay flat.

The star book was a piece of 12x12 I cut down into pages the same size as traveler notebook pages.  The star book is double hinged creating a mini book.  To make the cover look more like a coverI used a label and decorated with wash stickers.  Throughout the bookI used Journal for Life ephemera.  To add some interest I cut pages into banners.

The blue floral was actually a page I never thought would used.  With its composite book look and large floralsI wasn't even sure I liked it.  Using 2 pages that matched the wedding colors I created a hinged book?  As I was going through pictures I realized the colors of the paper were an exact match to a wedding that participated in a couple of years ago.  The matching sheets were great for another hinged book..  I was able to wrap up the pictures in a two page spread with one page having a mini book.  The wedding two page spread was decorated with some stamping and wood  veneer.  The wood veneer flowers from Some Assemblage Required were the same flowers as on the paper; I colored them with alcohol markers so they would match the paper.

Here are the final layouts:
